If you need emergency assistance, contact the Embassy on telephone number: + 90 312 446 9427 (office hours) or +90 312 446 6172 (outside office hours). If you phone outside regular opening hours, you will be asked to leave a message on the answering machine. When you leave a message state your name, phone number and the nature of the problem. The answering machine is monitored regularly, and the Duty Officer at the Embassy will contact you as soon as possible.
If your passport is lost or stolen, report the loss or theft to the nearest police station as soon as possible. The police will issue you with a Police Certificate of Loss confirming that you have made a report.
The Embassy or the Honorary Consulate can then issue you with an Emergency Travel Document. You will need to bring the Certificate of Loss, two passport photographs, evidence of identification, and your flight tickets to the Embassy when applying for an ETD. There is a fee of €6 or 12 ytl when applying for an ETD
If you are the victim of a crime while in Turkey, please contact the nearest police station as soon as possible. Normally, reports are only accepted if made in person and it can be difficult to make a report once you have left Turkey. Be sure to ask for a copy of the statement certifying your report; this may be necessary for follow-up investigation, insurance claims, etc.
